Riding an electric motorcycle in Hong Kong rain
A waterproof rating is not a flood guarantee. ABS does not cancel a wet road.

You can ride an electric motorcycle in rain. That does not mean you can ride through standing water. A wet charge port, battery connector or controller is an expensive repair.
How do you ride more steadily in rain?
- Slow down, brake earlier, and avoid painted lines, manhole covers and diesel film.
- Do not ride in another vehicle's wheel. Leave room to stop.
- If you cannot see, stop. Do not chase a light.
How far can you trust a waterproof mark?
The manual's rating is a stated test, not permission to cross a flooded lane. If water is over the rim or the charge port, stop and walk. At home, do not seal the port immediately. Check that the connector is dry, as the manual describes.
Do ABS and traction control make rain safe?
No. They reduce lock-up and wheelspin. They do not delete a wet surface. A brochure is not a safety guarantee. New riders: probationary licence notes.
