Summer and winter: what the battery does
Hong Kong heat is the usual problem, not a long freeze. Charging a sun-baked pack hurts it. A cooler morning can also shorten the same trip.

Hong Kong does not sit below freezing for long. It does sit hot and humid. The temperature range in the battery manual is more useful than 'you can ride all year'.
What should summer avoid?
- Plugging in the moment the bike comes out of harsh sun.
- Leaving the pack or the charger shut in a hot top box.
- Storing a full pack for weeks in a hot garage and ignoring it.
Why does a cooler day feel shorter?
A lower temperature reduces what the pack will give, and a heater, if the bike has one, uses energy too. Hong Kong is not a northern winter, but you still should not copy a summer full-charge distance onto a damp morning. Planning is in range.
How do you leave it for a few weeks?
Follow the manual and leave about half a charge. Do not store it empty, and do not leave it at 100 percent in high heat for a long time. Lock the pack. On return, check tyres and brakes before a hill.
