The concrete piece of Hong Kong electric-motorcycle news in the second half of 2026 is the Honda WN7. The market is still small, and a bike still needs registration and a licence. Specs sit on the WN7 page.

When did Honda put the WN7 on sale in Hong Kong?

On 5 August 2026 Honda Hong Kong and Macau said the WN7, its first electric street motorcycle, had arrived and bookings were open. The Mong Kok showroom is run by Chun Kee at G/F, 9A Portland Street, telephone 2762 2777, Monday to Saturday 10:00–19:00. The news lists 50 kW peak, 100 Nm, a fixed 9.3 kWh pack, about 140 km of range, and a CCS2 charge from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes.

How many electric motorcycles are registered?

At the end of August 2026, 1,187 electric motorcycles and motor tricycles were registered, 1.1% of that vehicle class. Private cars were 27.5% electric in the same snapshot. Those percentages describe different classes.

What about tax and the licence fee?

On 25 February 2026 the government said first registration tax on electric motorcycles stays fully waived until 31 March 2028. The private-motorcycle licence is HK$1,314 a year or HK$488 for four months. Insurance is separate. See the price note.

Where is the mobility-device law?

On 4 February 2026 the Transport and Logistics Bureau told the Legislative Council it planned to legislate within the year so electric mobility devices could be used in designated areas, and to consult the Panel on Transport on the latest proposal within the year. The same reply says these devices are mechanically propelled vehicles under the Road Traffic Ordinance, and using one unregistered or unlicensed may breach the current law. A Sha Tin District Council paper in July 2026 says the same consultation plan. Today, a licensed electric motorcycle and an unregistered mobility device stay on different pages. See how the two are split.
